Rongeurs are a fundamental element of any cervical spine instrument set. Common rongeur patterns for bone removal include Stille-Luer Horsley, Leksell and Duckbill, which can be used to remove spinous process. Kerrison rongeurs, with their small jaws, slants and long shafts, are used to remove bone from small areas. Pituitary rongeurs remove disc and tissue and, like the Casper rongeur, can feature serrated jaws to aid in grasping. Additional patterns, such as the Peapod, straight pituitary, and Micro Williams are also available.
