Laparoscopic surgery, also known as minimally invasive (MIS) or keyhole surgery, is any of a number of procedures performed through a very small incision, often created by a trocar cannula. Common laparoscopic instruments include cannulas, dissectors, forceps, graspers, hooks, needle holders, and scissors. Additional instruments used in laparoscopic procedures include clip appliers, electrodes and electrosurgical cables, knot pushers, needles and probes, retractors, scopes, suction tubes, trocar cannulas and trocar incision closure devices.
