Chopper styles commonly used in horizontal chop cornea procedures include Barrett, Bordeianu, Arasaslan, Green, Hara, Inamura, Jakobsen, Packard, various styles of nucleus dividers, Rosen, and Sibilio. With a phacoemulsification tip securing the lens nucleus, a chopper is passed below the distal edge of the anterior capsulotomy, around the equator of the lens, and through the nucleus toward the phaco tip horizontally. When the phaco tip and chopper are laterally separated, the nucleus breaks. The tip of the chopper specifies the direction of the cut.
In Vertical chop procedures, instruments such as a Phaco-axe crack the nucleus vertically during phacoemulsification. Various patterns of phaco choppers such as Barrett styles, Mackool, divider hooks and central dividers, and Parmar can be used.
We also offer a wide variety of femtosecond laser instruments, prechoppers, sustainers, nucleus crackers, and other instruments for eye, cataract, and corneal procedures.
