Biopsy

During a biopsy procedure, a variety of instruments are used to access and remove a sample of cells. Biopsy forceps are commonly used to obtain specimens. These thin, flexible forceps feature cupped jaws and come in a variety of handle styles. During a needle biopsy procedure, fine aspiration needles can be used to obtain tissue and fluid samples. When a larger specimen is required, a biopsy punch may be used, removing a cylindrical sample that accesses tissue directly or through a small incision.
