Retractors are used in a variety of applications during cardiovascular procedures. Self-retaining retractors, such as Gelpi and Wietlaner retractors - which are available with both sharp and blunt tip configurations, are typically used to secure incisions. Rib and sternal retractors such as the Finocchietto-Burford and retractor systems, are used to open the chest wall. Additional retractor styles aid in visualization around mammary arteries, the scapular, lungs, and veins.
